Swing Set
I would consider this to be my first big leap into computer graphics. Before this, I had done a few smaller exercises, but this was really my first attempt at an in-depth project with what I hoped would be a meaningful outcome.
The goal here was to create some sort of solid structure. Immediately, and I’m not sure why, I thought of a backyard play area. Initially, I imagined a space with multiple typical playground objects, but as the process progressed, I decided to settle on the swing set only.
In the image below, which was my first attempt, you can see part of a merry-go-round, which was eventually taken out of the scene. Ditto with the lens flare.
Attempt number two, had some definite improvements. You’ll notice more realistic shadows and, of course, the lens flare is gone. Unfortunately, so is the sun.
My third try is a little better yet. The sun is back, the shadows look better and the merry-go-round is gone for good.

This is gorgeous. Would you allow me to use this image for a new blog project I’m working on? Maybe while you’re at it, I can get you to work with me on designing the page itself. My email address is on my blog if you’re interested.
